Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service govern your use of the SOW mobile application, website, and related services. By creating an account, accessing SOW, or using a feature, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use SOW.

SOW is a personal finance organization tool. It is not a bank, payment institution, lender, broker, investment adviser, tax adviser, credit bureau, or emergency service.

2. Eligibility and account security

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement. You must provide accurate information, keep your authentication credentials and device secure, and promptly tell us about suspected unauthorized access.

You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless the activity resulted from SOW's failure to apply reasonable security measures. Do not share your account or use SOW for another person without authorization.

3. What SOW provides

SOW may provide account organization, manual and linked bank accounts, transaction records, spending categories, budgets, savings goals, investment tracking, financial-health summaries, reports, notifications, community or support features, and optional AI-generated insights.

Features can change, be unavailable in some countries or on some devices, or require a compatible provider. We do not promise that every bank, statement format, SMS format, or financial data source will work correctly.

4. Bank accounts and transaction data

When you link or enter a bank account, you confirm that you are authorized to access and manage it. You are responsible for reviewing account names, balances, transaction dates, amounts, categories, and imported records before relying on them.

SOW may receive account information from a banking connection provider or from information you enter. SOW does not guarantee that a balance or transaction feed is complete, current, or error-free. SOW is not responsible for outages, restrictions, or inaccuracies originating with a bank or third-party provider.

5. Android SMS feature

SMS transaction detection is an optional Android-only convenience feature. It requires your explicit READ_SMS permission and is not required to use SOW. It is designed to identify likely Nigerian bank alerts, parse possible transaction details, and stage them for your review.

You control whether to grant permission, scan messages, submit a pending item, or stop using the feature. SOW does not promise that every message will be detected or parsed correctly. You must review the bank, category, amount, balance, and description before submitting. SOW is not responsible for a missed, duplicated, misread, or incorrectly categorized alert.

SMS detection does not replace checking your bank account or statement. You must not use it as the sole control for fraud detection, reconciliation, tax reporting, or financial decisions.

6. PDF bank statement import

The statement-import tool lets you voluntarily select a PDF statement and upload it for parsing. SOW limits the current upload to PDF files up to 20 MB. The service creates a review session and displays parsed transactions for your confirmation.

You are responsible for selecting a statement you are authorized to upload, checking the parsed results, choosing the correct bank account, and deciding which items to submit or dismiss. Text extraction can fail or misread scanned, protected, unusual, or poorly formatted PDFs. Imported transactions are not final until you review and submit them.

7. Financial information and AI disclaimer

SOW's calculations, charts, budgets, forecasts, categories, financial-health scores, investment tracking, and AI responses are for general informational and organizational purposes only. They are not financial, investment, tax, legal, accounting, banking, credit, or fiduciary advice.

Do not make a financial decision solely on an SOW display or AI response. Verify important information with your bank, a qualified professional, or an official source. Past performance, projections, and calculated scores do not guarantee future results.

8. Acceptable use

You may not use SOW to commit fraud, launder money, evade sanctions, impersonate another person, access another user's data, interfere with the service, upload malicious code, reverse engineer protected parts of the app, abuse support or community features, or violate applicable law.

We may suspend or limit access when reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, or secure the service. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and a path to contact support.

9. Third-party services

SOW may depend on authentication, hosting, banking connections, identity verification, payment, communications, analytics, AI, and other third-party services. Their terms, availability, fees, and privacy practices may also apply. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our reasonable control.

10. Payments and fees

If SOW or a third-party provider charges a fee for a feature or transaction, the applicable amount will be shown before confirmation where practicable. Bank, provider, network, or mobile-data charges may still apply. A transaction may be delayed, rejected, reversed, or unavailable because of a provider or network issue.

11. Intellectual property

SOW and its software, branding, design, text, and other materials belong to SOW or its licensors. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app and website for their intended purpose. You retain rights to information you submit, subject to the licenses needed to operate the service.

12. Disclaimers and liability

SOW is provided on an as-is and as-available basis to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, complete accuracy, compatibility with a particular bank or statement, or that the service will meet every financial need.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SOW will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss, loss of profits, or loss caused by reliance on imported data, calculations, AI output, a bank provider, an SMS alert, or a statement parser. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Termination

You may stop using SOW and request account deletion. We may suspend or end access under these Terms or when required to protect the service or comply with law. Provisions concerning data, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, disputes, and outstanding obligations survive termination where applicable.

14. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms when the service or law changes. We will publish the updated version and effective date. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
